"God
Stories" (county-wide prayer devotional)
Most of the ministries of the Regional Church are relational
and "behind the scenes", but our prayer initiatives have
been open invitations to the county to join in prayer. From 2002's
OctoberFast through the Spring 2003 PrayerWatch, thousands of Lancaster
Christians committed themselves to partnered prayer through
the invitation of the Regional Church and the gracious cooperation
of both WJTL and WDAC. On
May 6, 2004, we finished up a county-wide, year-long season
of fasting and prayer for our region (from National Day of Prayer
2003 to National Day of Prayer 2004) called THRONE
OF GRACE. Since then, we have sponsored a Call to Fasting and
Prayer (January 2-22, 2007) and several regional prayer summits.
In the past 3 years, the Regional Church has published 3
devotionals:
"ONE" is a 365-entry daily devotional for Lancaster
County, in which hundreds of our region's Christian leaders have
contributed personal devotional thoughts for the "Church of Lancaster".
This professionally designed and published book is an inspiring and encouraging
personal devotions tool for area Christians, while spotlighting the "unity
of the Spirit and the bond of peace" which Christ won for his people
at the cross of Calvary. Order

"GOD STORIES" is a second devotional written
entirely by local Christian leaders, filled with personal stories of healing,
deliverance, guidance, provision and the faithful hand of God upon his
people, GOD STORIES also includes a weekly prayer focus for the spiritual
transformation of our region. Order

"GOD STORIES 2" is a follow-up to the well-received
GOD STORIES, and it includes all new stories
from Christian leaders and laity from four counties south-central Pennsylvania
(Berks, Chester, Lancaster and Lebanon). This devotional, as well as the
others, have blessed believers througout the region and around the world.

Administrative
Costs and Vision Promotion
Though
our administrative costs are few (due to the gracious and generous gift
of office space and clerical supplies through In The Light Ministries),
the Regional Church of Lancaster County promotes its vision through various
relational projects, gatherings and events. The promotion and administration
of these initiatives inevitably includes a price tag.
Ministry
of any kind needs money to continue to meet the needs of others in the
name of Christ. The
administrative and promotional work of the Regional Church of Lancaster
County functions through the gifts of those who share our vision of relational
Christian unity and the spiritual transformation of Lancaster County through
the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In
prosperous times, in troubled times, God never changes. His
provision is always plentiful. BUT HE USES YOU AND ME, and he waits for
you and me. When we give, He gives. As long as the church of Jesus Christ
in Lancaster county holds onto its money, the ministries of the church
will suffer. When we open our wallets, God will open His. Provision comes
through obedience to the command to GIVE.
There
is a Time To Give...the Time To Give is Now.
A
Testimony of Giving
In
July 2003, the Leadership Council of the Regional Church took a special
"Seed Offering" on behalf of the church in Lancaster County,
asking God to release finances to the Body of Christ locally.
The
money taken in was then disbursed to five separate regionally-minded Christian
ministries.
Four equal-sized gifts were sent out of the county. One went to a regional
church movement in Berks County. One went to a community-wide fellowship
of churches in Coatesville. One went to the Capital Region Pastor's Network
in Harrisburg. And one went to a regional group in Lebanon.
A significant gift was also sent to the Lancaster County Council of Churches
to enable the C of C's executive director at that time (Kim Wittel) to
be part of the Lancaster leadership team that traveled to New York City
in October for The Gospel In The City National Leadership Forum.
Very quickly, the fruit from that seed could be seen in increased
relational contact and trust between leaders in these ministries. One
very real partnership (in prayer) was established with Christians in Berks
County adopting a THRONE OF GRACE week to pray for the body of Christ
in Lancaster.
We
FIND our lives (and our provision) when we GIVE up ourselves (and our
money) for Christ's sake.
